The Day

Your day will begin at 8:00am, for you and up to 4 other surfers, at the Robert August factory in Huntington Beach, CA. After meeting Robert and touring the factory you’ll spend the next 2 hours watching Robert shape a board. You’ll see a raw foam blank transformed into the shape of a world class surfboard.

Then it’s your turn. Each person has his own private shaping bay to work in. You will be supplied with all the tools and equipment needed, as well as the type of blank best suited for the board you’ve already decided to shape. See Robert August's Page for surfboard models available from the likes of Wingnut, Mike Doyle, Paul Strauch, Mark Martinson, Jerico Poppler, Corky Carrol, Mike Minchinton, and of course, Robert August. Here you can also see pictures of the factory you'll be working in. Robert and an assistant will personally get you started and will spend the next 6 hours helping you create the surfboard of your dreams.

By the end of the day, you should pretty much have your board shaped, sanded and ready to be glossed. Robert’s staff will take it from there. After you and Robert have autographed your new creation you'll go over with him how you want your new board finished. Over the next few days, Robert and his staff  will glass, sand, and polish your new board. It will then be shipped to your home.
